Thanks for taking the time to check out our practice! My name is Dr. Steve Dickens, but you can call me Dr. D. I’ve been with Starr & Dickens Orthodontics since 2008 and I absolutely love creating beautiful, healthy smiles for my patients.
I received my DDS degree with Distinction in 2003 then completed my orthodontic residency and Master’s degree all from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!). Giving back to our community is extremely important to me, which is why Dr. Starr and I launched a local chapter of the national non-profit organization “Smile for a Lifetime.” Through this program, we get to provide braces at no cost to disadvantaged children, and I am so thankful to be in a profession that not only provides kids with healthy, brand new smiles, but also boosts their self-esteem and makes them feel better about themselves.
I currently live in Matthews with my wife, Liz, and our four unique, challenging and amazing children. We love spending time together as a family, especially traveling and cheering on the Tar Heels, Panthers and Hornets. Liz and I have completed many races together, including the NYC Marathon, which I am extremely proud of. I’m also very passionate about photography, and I hope to someday be as good as my Pulitzer Prize winning uncle.
I truly love people and taking care of them, and I do everything possible to treat my patients and staff with kindness, respect, and compassion. I will always take the time to explain your treatment options or cover any questions or concerns you have, so please don’t hesitate to ask. I look forward to giving you the healthy, beautiful smile you deserve!
